Significance Of Da’wah To Children And Youth

Implementation of da’wah to CHILDREN and YOUTH are very important mission from a da’wah point of view. Children are the Allah trust to the parent to educate them to the right path. Allah had mentioned in Surah At-Tahrim [verse 6]

“O you who have believed, protect yourselves and your families from a Fire whose fuel is people and stones, over which are [appointed] angels, harsh and severe; they do not disobey Allah in what He commands them but do what they are commanded.”
From that, we can see parents play an important role in upbringing the children to know about Islam and practice Islam in their life.

However, the role to educate children is not only in parent’s hand but also the responsibility of the community around them. Each of the Muslim must take a role to spread Islam to others including to children and youth. Why it is become so important to spread the da’wah among children and youth?

1. Da’wah is significance to children and youth because they are capable of accepting the influence of all types of impressions such as from parent, people around them, school environment and social media. Moreover, the fact that the children’s heart is very pure and acts like a mirror which, are easy to imitate and follow others blindly are consider as a very big challenges to us, as a parent and community to face it. Children future is in our hand to guide and show them the right path. If we are not providing them with good things, bad things will easily influence them especially in this new era which technology beyond our hand and information are widely spread without knowing it authenticity.

2. The other significance of da’wah among children and youth is for the reason that the Muslim youth are the greatest assets of this Ummah for building up the Islamic movement in this world. Muslim youth are the hope of the Ummah to bringing up and spread the Islam to all mankind over the world because they possess courage, stamina, untiring energies and are willing to accept the challenge of time. As stated in the book entitled The Dawah Program by Shamim A Siddiqi, history confirms that youth have always played a historical role in building and reconstruction of nations and people. The only thing they need is 'motivation'. They can be motivated either to the side of evil forces or to the side of the forces of Haq (Truth).
In the time of Rasulullah SAW, he has motivated the youth of his time to be the champion of the cause of Allah SWT and to be the master of both the Arab and the Ajam (non-Arab world). For example, Abu Bakr (R), Umar (R) and Ali (R) whose becoming a leader at the early age.
3. Another significance of da’wah among children and youth is to develop and produce a good and better Muslim in the future. A proper planning of da’wah need to be develops and arranges in order to guide the youth to become a good Muslim. Therefore, strategic da’wah needs to be explored and introduce to the children and youth in order to get children attention and interest on Islam. In addition, to make the children and youth istiqomah in this path (religion of Islam) a proper guidance and example need to be share and teach along the way. Hence, Islamic da’wah is totally important to the children and youth in developing them to become a true Muslim that practicing the Islam every day in all aspect of life.

To conclude, in order to achieve these significance, all Muslim need to collaborate and join the venture of da’wah. A lot of efforts must be done in synchronize way in order to get a better result. Even if it is a tiring work, we must put our trust to Allah because He surely will help us. Allah mentioned in Al-Quran surah Al-Haj verse 40,
"Indeed Allah will help those who help Him. Indeed Allah is Exalted in Might, All-Powerful."
So, we must do da’wah even it is difficult because Allah said that He will help those who help Him. At last, children and youth are talented, energetic and aspire to do something. Thus, it is our obligation to inspire them to be the leaders of mankind as Islam need.
